The German Mom Easter Gift Guide

Do you need gift ideas for your toddler for Easter? The links and items you see below are gifts I have on my list to choose for Easter. I will not buy every item, but I wanted to share with you, what I find appropriate for my kids’ age and interest.

Note: I am not affiliated with Amazon or any of the links below, so I am NOT receiving any $$ for sharing my favorite gifts.

We celebrate Easter with an Easter Egg Hunt and each kid receives a basket of gifts. In the past, I have presented their big basket gifts at the Breakfast table and eggs (either wooden eggs or plastic ones filled with little gifts or candy) were hidden in the garden or in the living room – depended on the weather. This year, we will have our Wichtel (Christmas Elf) visit again and hide the Easter Baskets from the kids, leaving them clues to an ultimate scavenger hunt to find their baskets again. Sneaky Wichtel.

What kind of Basket to use?

If you’ve ever received one of those premade gift baskets, you know how flimsy those containers sometimes can be. They either gather in your house with no other use or you need to throw them out. In order to prevent more waste, consider choosing one of the following as a gift basket or none.

Use a Backpack

Our kids received these backpacks in 2021, because we had big plans to hike more and we already knew we were going to move to Germany. The backpacks were perfect at holding most of the gifts the kids received that year.

Use a Stapelstein

The kids received a set of Stapelsteine from Santa last Christmas and I know they would love to have a few extra ones that can be used for their “The Floor is Lava” games.
Consider using one or even two Stapelsteine to keep all Easter gifts contained into one “basket” (of course, only if these gifts are small enough to fit inside the Stapelstein. See pictures below of what I’m thinking of doing for our Easter Baskets

Use a Storage Basket

These storage baskets can be a simple toy shelf basket or something you already have in your home. These metal baskets are my favorite storage baskets for my onions in the pantry and I use another one for our Tegu Magnetic Blocks, as you can stick them to the basket itself. Wire baskets were found at IKEA.

Use a basket for play

Honestly, my household can never have enough baskets. We either need them for storing clothes or toys, or my 3 year old uses them to play with. Often times she uses random baskets to “go shopping” or for sorting her toys by colors. But I’ve seen these little baskets on Etsy and I have had them on my wish list for the longest time.
Here are some I had considered getting for my kids at some point:

Easter Gift ideas

I always follow a simple structure when it comes to choosing toys for my kids. At Christmas they get inside play toys and at Easter they get outside play toys. So for Easter I always include: An outside toy, a small inside toy, something useful, something that helps them with their current development, something sweet, and annual outside play stuff like new chalk, bubbles, or sand toys.

I will add a link to my favorite European and US Shops. There is no affiliation with these links and I don’t receive any benefits for sharing them with you. I am simply just sharing my favorite things with you.
